Community ‘want Hendra House return’
Wednesday, 11 April 2012
MEETING: Back row, from left, are new committee members Terry Parker, Barry Osborne and Simon Dart, with Tracey Dart (secretary), Les Kennedy (chairman) and Rosemarie Kennedy (treasurer). Picture: Paul Hamlyn, Launceston.
APPROXIMATELY 40 residents attended the second in a series of meetings held to voice concerns related to the possible sale and redevelopment of Hendra House, Launceston recently. Grievances regarding the lack of consultation from Cornwall Council were also discussed — only three residents of Dunheved Road were informed of the proposed sale. Several positive suggestions for the future of Hendra House were put forward — one of which was a community/day centre and another was a small start up internet office site. Most importantly, residents thought that Hendra should be returned to the Launceston community. The tree preservation orders were discussed, and several trees on the site are now in the process of having them assigned.
