BUDE-Stratton Town Council has announced the closure of one of its public toilet facilities following recent vandalism.

The council announced this morning (May 1) that the Crooklets toilets have been closed for cleaning and repairs.

The council has stressed that while damage may appear minor, the correction and refurbishment of the area takes significant time and diverts council workers from other essential duties.

Among damage caused are several incidents of offensive language graffitied on walls, paper thrown at the ceilings and drains blocked.

A council spokesperson said: “Due to vandalism, Crooklets toilets are currently closed for cleaning and repairs. While the damage may appear minor, it still requires significant time to rectify, including the removal of offensive language.

“This unexpected work diverts our team from other essential duties. We apologise for the inconvenience and are working to reopen the facilities by lunchtime today.

“Your understanding and vigilance in reporting any suspicious activities are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your cooperation.”
